The Cello
Michael Fischer made this cello in 1994. It remains in great condition today, featuring a beautiful two piece maple back and a prominent dark varnish. The cello produces a powerful, warm sound, the kind sought by the finest performers and soloists.
The Maker
Michael Fischer is a native Bavarian who attended the renowned Mittenwald violin making school. He went on to become a world renowned violin maker in his own right. After graduation, Fischer continued his training in London, working under Dietrich Kessler and later Charles Beare, two of the most respected names in the trade.
During the 1980s, Fischer moved to Los Angeles, where he continues to build magnificent instruments. His work reflects the rigorous training he received in both Germany and England, combined with decades of independent craftsmanship. As a result, his instruments remain highly sought after by discerning musicians for their powerful, warm tonal character.
