Description: Leopold Widhalm was born in Horn, Austria and began repairing lutes from an early age. He moved to Nürnberg, Germany, where he began his studies as a luthier under Sebastian Schelle. Leopold took over the Schelle workshop after Sebastian’s death, and the shop quickly grew to the largest and most successful violin shop in Nürnberg. His sons also became violin makers and assisted their father in the making of his later instruments.
This particular violin is in excellent condition and produces and full, dark tone across the strings. Back Length: 35.9cm.
