The Maker
Charles Alfred Bazin (1907-1987), the final bow maker in the Bazin family tradition, began his apprenticeship under his father, Charles Louis Bazin, in 1922. After serving in WWII, he returned to Mirecourt to open his own workshop and later took over the family business following his father’s retirement in 1952. Known for his fine craftsmanship, Bazin remained true to the family’s signature style while developing his own distinctive approach. Choosing to work independently and not supply other firms, he maintained a selective clientele. Bazin’s prolific output continued until his retirement in the 1980s, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional bows.
