The Maker
Dominique Peccatte was born in Mirecourt, France in 1810, the son of Jean François Peccatte. At just sixteen years old, he was noticed for his skill in violin making and brought to Paris to work under J.B. Vuillaume. While working in the capital, Vuillaume guided the young Peccatte toward bow making.
Peccatte initially trained under the renowned J.P.M. Persoit before ultimately developing his own model, based on that of Tourte and his mentor. With his incredible skill and talent, Peccatte created a legacy in bow making that remains unmatched by any maker other than Tourte himself.
