The Bow
This fine Émile Auguste Ouchard violin bow, made circa 1935–1940, features an octagonal stick of beautifully figured orange-brown pernambuco. The ebony frog is mounted in silver and has a distinctive low profile, measuring approximately 18.5 mm in height. The original lapping, thumb leather, and pearl elements remain intact.
The bow has a tip spline that was professionally restored by Josh Henry. It plays exceptionally well, with a smooth and supple yet lively response and a bright, dense tone with excellent clarity. The restoration presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a fine Ouchard bow at a fraction of the price of an otherwise comparable example.
