The Violin
One professional violinist played this Eric Benning violin, a 2010 Stradivari model, from the day it left the workbench. Eric Benning, our own house luthier, built it in Los Angeles. The one-piece back shows exceptional figure. As a result, the instrument looks as striking as it sounds.
The voice is powerful and rich. Still, the tone stays clear and precise, so fast passages speak with real definition. In fact, Eric Benning gave this 2010 Stradivari violin both weight and focus. Many players look for that balance and rarely find it. The back measures 35.7 cm.
Years of daily professional use shaped the instrument. A working player chose it and kept it, and that choice says a lot. So this Stradivari violin from Eric Benning, dated 2010, proved itself on stage, not only in the shop.
It suits a violinist who wants power without losing focus. It also suits a player who values a proven performance history. When a violin has earned its keep for years, it offers a rare kind of confidence.
The Maker
Eric Benning serves as the house luthier of Benning Violins in Los Angeles. He works at the bench every day, and every instrument he makes carries his own hand.
His training comes from the Becker school. His great-uncle, the acclaimed American maker Carl F. Becker Jr., guided his development. That lineage still shapes the way Eric Benning approached this 2010 Stradivari violin.
Today his violins travel with distinguished teachers, soloists and orchestra members. Several players in the LA Philharmonic count among them. Because working professionals keep his violins in daily use, each one builds a reputation over time.
