The Cello Bow
Light in the hand yet lively and responsive, this Eugène Sartory cello bow is exceptionally comfortable and easy to maneuver. The stick has a lovely natural spring, giving the bow an agile feel and allowing for clean articulation without sacrificing stability. Its lighter weight makes it particularly effortless through quick passages and changes of direction, while still providing the control and character expected from a fine Sartory bow.
This bow was the primary cello bow of the late Ray Kelley throughout his career, adding an especially meaningful provenance to an already exceptional example. The bow is in excellent condition.

Eugène Nicolas Sartory (1871–1946) is regarded as one of the most important French bow makers of the 20th century. Born in Mirecourt, he initially trained with his father before working in Paris with Charles Peccatte and Joseph Alfred Lamy. Sartory established his own workshop in 1889 and developed a distinctive model admired for its strength, consistency, and reliability.
