The Maker
Eugenio Degani lived from 1842 to 1901. He worked first in Montagnana and later in Venice. There he became one of the city’s most distinguished craftsmen.
Degani developed a personal model influenced by both Cremonese and Venetian traditions. His instruments often show a reddish orange varnish. Players also prize them for a powerful, warm sound.
He also founded a family legacy. His son Giulio Degani became a violinmaker too. Together they influenced Italian violin making well into the 20th century.
