The Cello

This Francesco Toto cello is crafted with a two-piece maple back showing strong, medium-wide flames ascending from the center joint. The ribs and scroll are made from matching maple, while the two-piece spruce top displays even grain with striking hazel-spruce, or bear claw, markings. The golden amber varnish is fully applied, highlighting the instrument’s clean and precise workmanship. Ebony fittings complete the cello’s elegant appearance. Tonally, this cello is exceptionally easy to play, with a sweet, singing voice and effortless response. While not overwhelmingly powerful, it offers excellent control, warmth, and clarity, making it a very comfortable and rewarding instrument for the player.
