The Maker
Gennaro DeLuccia was born in 1911 in Casigliano, Italy. Through his work in his hometown and in Mercato Cilento, he became a prominent luthier of the modern Italian era. In 1951, DeLuccia immigrated to the United States, where he worked alongside his brother Vincenzo in Philadelphia.
Before retiring in 1978, DeLuccia built a successful career in New York with Rembert Wurlitzer and also worked in Miami. Throughout his career, he became known for his precise craftsmanship and sharp eye for detail. As a result, his instruments are now played and collected by musicians around the world.
This violin reflects that same precision and attention to detail, standing as a strong representation of DeLuccia’s legacy in twentieth century Italian American violin making.
