The Maker
Legendary Italian violinmaker Genuzio Carletti (1905-1996) began learning his craft from his cabinet-maker uncle in Pieve di Cento. His remarkable cellos gained international recognition after winning first place for a viola in Cremona (1949). Carletti’s cellos became popular with American cellists after 1940. His fine cello craftsmanship flourished in Cento after 1956, where he worked until his death. This cello reflects his four decades of expertise, producing rich, resonant tones that showcase his dedication to beauty and excellence.
