The Viola

This German viola from the Füssen region, dating to the late 18th century, shows clear Brescian influence in its outline and sound holes. It features a striking one-piece slab-cut maple back with exceptional figure, complemented by quarter-cut, tightly flamed ribs and a plain maple neck with a well-executed flamed graft. The two-piece spruce top displays straight, even grain, and the instrument has benefited from careful, high-quality restoration. Fitted with a later 19th-century German scroll, this viola offers a bright, clear tonal character with very good projection, making it an appealing choice for advancing players and professionals alike.
