The Maker
Jacques Camurat was born in Madrid in 1927 and became a prominent figure in modern French violin making. After training with Dieudonné, he established his own workshop in 1957 at 49 Rue de Rome in Paris, where he worked until 1990. Known for his thoughtful workmanship and vibrant tonal style, he created instruments valued by many players. He had two sons, Bernard and Pascal, the latter becoming a respected bow maker in his own right.
