Description: Joseph Arthur Vigneron (Vigneron père 1851–1905) was born in Mirecourt where he studied with his stepfather Claude Nicolas Husson until 1872. He then joined the workshop of Jean-Joseph Martin, and in 1880, Vigneron moved to Paris to work for Gand & Bernardel before establishing his own business in 1888. Vigneron is known for his prolific output of a variety of bow designs as he experimented with both octagonal and round sticks, cambres and weights of sticks, frogs and tips, and he incorporated influences of both the Bazin and Vuillaume workshops while developing his own personal models.

This bow is an excellent representative of J.A. Vigneron’s work. Originally made for the Chanot et Chardon firm, it bears their brand-stamp. A strong and maneuverable bow which has an excellent feel and balance.
