The Violin

Crafted by Maurizio Tadioli on an Amati model, this violin displays beautiful wood and fine workmanship throughout. The two-piece maple back features narrow flames slanting upward from the bass side toward the treble, with matching maple used for the ribs and scroll. Its two-piece spruce top is formed from finely grained wood, while the antiqued brown-orange varnish over a golden ground gives the instrument a warm and mature appearance. The violin responds quickly and easily, producing a smooth, velvety voice with a darker tonal character, rich color, and warmth across all four strings.

The Maker

Maurizio Tadioli was born in Cremona, Italy, in 1967 and was introduced to violin making as a child by his grandfather, Carlo Pizzamiglio. He later attended the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, graduating with top marks in 1985 under Riccardo Bergonzi. Tadioli continued refining his craft with several respected contemporary makers and became known for his finely constructed instruments, classical Cremonese models, and skillful antiquing. He has also taught violin making and served as a juror at international competitions.
