The Cello
Made in 2000, this modern cello is a carefully crafted copy of a Gagliano model, blending historical character with clean contemporary playability. The two-piece maple back shows irregular flames, paired with simpler maple ribs and scroll in keeping with traditional Gagliano style. The spruce top has medium to wide grain and is finished in a lightly distressed pale orange-brown varnish that echoes natural wear.
Fitted with ebony pegs, an Acousticus tailpiece, and a New Harmony endpin, the setup is responsive and immediate. Tonally, the cello offers a bright, sweet voice with excellent clarity and projection, ideal for advancing players and professionals.
The Maker
Michael Fischer, a violin maker fromds Southern Germany, trained at the Violin Making School in Mittenwald before working in London with Dietrich Kessler and Charles Beare, focusing on baroque instruments and complex restorations.
