Maker: Paul S.J. Goh
Description: Paul Goh is a Singaporean who studied bowmaking at the Bowmaking School of America in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the tutelage of Paul S. Prier. He graduated in 2008 and has been making bows full time since then. Goh is constantly seeking to improve his skills and besides spending time with master bow makers like Benoit Rolland, Jean Grunberger and Yannick Le Canu, he also participates in the Oberlin Bowmaking workshops and has led demonstrations for the Bowmaker’s forum during the Violin Society of America Conventions. He was awarded certificates of merit for his violin and viola bows in the 2016 VSA competition. He is currently based in Singapore but he comes regularly to the United States where he is working to head up the bow department at Benning Violins.
This particular bow was made by Paul on his last visit out here to Los Angeles in 2023. This stunning cello bow is based on a Lupot model, using the finest Pernambuco and mounted in silver and ebony. The bow is balanced perfectly and is quick, articulate and strong. Very much a French inspired feel.
