The Maker
Paul Martin Siefried (1950–2019) was one of the most distinguished American bow makers and restorers of his generation. After working at the renowned Hans Weisshaar shop in Los Angeles, Siefried established his own workshop and later settled in Port Townsend, Washington. He earned six gold medals across the 1978 and 1980 Violin Society of America competitions and became internationally respected for both his bows and his extraordinary restoration work. His craftsmanship was strongly influenced by the great French bow makers of the 19th century.
