The Violin

Romeo Antoniazzi made this violin in 1927, and it stands today as a splendid example of his finest workmanship. The instrument has a back length of 35.5 cm and remains in near pristine condition. It offers bright, soloistic tonal qualities well suited to a performing musician.

The Maker

Romeo Antoniazzi likely learned the art of violin making from his older brother, Riccardo Antoniazzi. Over the course of his prolific career, he worked across a range of respected workshops and cities. He spent time in his brother’s shop, as well as in the workshops of Leandro Bisiach and Monzino and Sons, absorbing influences from several major figures within the Italian violin making tradition.

Antoniazzi approached his craft with a combination of spontaneity and meticulous care. This balance shaped instruments that feel both expressive and carefully considered, and it helped establish his place among the finest Italian luthiers of his generation. His violins remain highly sought after today for their craftsmanship and their bright, responsive tonal character.
