The Maker

Victor François Fétique (1872–1933) was a distinguished French bow maker from Mirecourt, known for his precision and refined craftsmanship. He began his apprenticeship with Charles Claude Husson and later trained with Sigisbert Maline, Émile Miquel, and Nicolas Bazin. In 1901, he moved to Paris to work for Caressa & Français, where he refined his style before establishing his own workshop in 1913.

Fétique’s bows are recognized for their balance, elegance, and attention to detail, often featuring small, refined heads and round frogs with Peccatte-style throats. From 1921 to 1926, he collaborated with makers such as Albert Thomassin and Louis Morizot ‘père,’ who provided partially finished bows for him to complete in Paris.
