The Maker
Vittorio Bellarosa was born in 1907, the son of violin maker Riccardo Bellarosa. In 1922, he began studying under Vito Vitantonio before completing his training in Mittenwald and with Rodolfo Fredi in Rome in 1925. This combination of Italian and German training gave Bellarosa a broad technical foundation early in his career.
Over the course of his long and vibrant career, Bellarosa completed over 1,000 instruments. As a result, his output remains widely recognized among collectors and performing musicians, and his violins continue to be valued for their craftsmanship and rich tonal character.
