Violinist Alex Granger is a constant collaborator and has a cultivated interest in new music. Most recently, he performed at the Carlsbad Music Festival, and in 2015 will perform Lucas Floyds’ Violin Concerto at the Hot Air Festival in San Francisco, a work written for and premiered by him in 2014.
In addition to his solo and chamber projects, Alex is part of the South Florida Symphony and the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, an exciting conductorless ensemble based in Los Angeles.
He holds a performance degree from Biola University, where he was named the Conservatory’s Presser Scholar, and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in performance at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music as a Sima Mannick Endowed Music Scholar. In addition to his private studies with Bing Wang of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, he studies regularly with renowned violinist Midori Goto.
Alex often performs at his church, local schools, and retirement homes, and regards performance outreach as an essential priority of his career. In the summer of 2015 he will travel to Burundi, Africa, to perform with a string quartet and provide music education for the community of Bujumbura, the capital city of the county.
As a teacher, Alex maintains students from the elementary to the collegiate level, and finds great joy in giving back what has been given to him through teaching.
